Have you had joint replacement surgery?
The foot is incredibly complicated and too many of us do not give our feet a second thought until we develop foot pain, or stress related injuries like plantar fasciitis from repetitive use. They are the body part that takes the most punishment.
In the UK, it is estimated that musculoskeletal conditions affect up to 20 million people each year. This means that over any 12 months period, conditions such as ankle, knee, hip, back, shoulder pain and arthritis will affect up to a third of the UK population. Joint replacements reduce joint cushioning and shock absorption and this starts at the feet.
According to a 2016 study, chronic foot pain affects 1 in 4 older people and this can increase the risk, recurrence and severity of falls. Well fitting footwear, including slippers, are essential to
protect the metatarsal joints as we age and custom hand-made Orthotics can provide vital cushioning. Keeping your feet strong, flexible and healthy translates to the rest of your body. Don’t let your feet stop you in your tracks.
A STANDING PROBLEM
When you stand up for any amount of time, your entire body weight is carried between two of the narrowest points on your body, the ankles and then spread onto the feet.
This weight is then distributed through and supported by, the multiple tiny bones within the feet.
You then shift your weight slightly and a different group of these bones take the brunt of your weight. The bones, joints and small muscles in your feet have to handle a disproportionate amount of work when you stand for long periods of time.
Of course, other parts of the body above the feet are also working hard. As well as the ankles, the joints at your knees and hips are having a tough time too.
Over time your posture adjusts in order to gain comfort and to ease the strain on these joints, and you form habits that are difficult to break as your body’s memory muscle reverts to what it ‘feels’ is best for you.
Imagine then what is happening to your feet!
Under these circumstances the tiny bones and muscles are being put under tremendous strain when your body adopts an unnatural posture. They are, figuratively speaking, almost at breaking point!
This situation causes pronation, when the feet roll, turn or twist to accommodate the upper body’s posture. Other problems develop too, such as plantar fasciitis and these become ‘set’ and can cause pain when walking or even at rest.
Early signs of trouble include mid-foot, pain and limping, or perhaps pain in the knees and/or hips, as other joints in the body compensate for changes to your feet.
Orthotics take into account these long-term changes in your feet. Made specifically to fit your own feet – and nobody else’s – they help even up the imbalance in your feet and restore comfort by providing a bespoke pair of shock-absorbers that help remove the pain and discomfort bought about by a lifetime of poor posture.
What’s more, they will help you to correct those
imbalances elsewhere in your body – taking the pressure off hips, knees and ankles, helping you stand and walk with greater comfort and easing the pressure on your joints and feet.

“High Angie, just wanted to give you an update
on the orthotics I had from you. They have
improved my balance, my knees are less painful
and already more comfortable after a week. I
was so impressed with them that my husband
purchased a pair and he is delighted with
the outcome”.
Teresa, Hilton
“Since using my orthotics, I have found I have
less pain in my knees. My ankles are in a better
position and are not rolling inwards. I would
definitely recommend these”.
Jane, Bridgnorth
“I am on my feet all day at work and ended
every day with back ache. Angie persuaded
me to buy these and I am so glad she did. The cushioning and comfort is excellent and I have not experienced back ache at the end of a working day since having them in my shoes. I would highly recommend them”.
